A short-term visa is issued for a single or multiple entry into the Schengen area and stay on its territory.

Single-entry short-term visa is issued for a stay of up to 90 calendar days and a validity period of up to 6 months.

Multiple short-term visa is issued for a stay of up to 90 calendar days within 6 months and a validity period of up to 5 years.

When applying for a short-stay visa, the state fee for the consideration of a visa application is paid at the Consulate General in cash in euro currency:
  • for citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia – 35 euro;
  • for citizens of other countries – 60 euros
The following are exempted from paying the state duty for issuing a visa:
  • minors under 6
  • Persons who are subject to special provisions of international agreements to which Estonia has acceded
  • disabled people
To apply for a visa to the Consulate General of Estonia, the following documents must be submitted:
  1. International passport of the applicant. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the visa expires and the passport must have at least 2 blank pages. The validity of the passport must not exceed 10 years.
  2. Visa application form signed personally by the applicant.
  3. Additional questionnaire. An additional questionnaire is filled in manually by citizens applying for a visa to visit relatives/friends/acquaintances. An additional questionnaire is required for persons who apply for a visa at the Estonian consulate for the first time or visit the inviter for the first time. Other applicants can fill out the questionnaire voluntarily. In case of visa applications by members of the same family, it is enough to fill out one additional questionnaire.
  4. For each applicant, 1 photo taken within the last six months must be submitted.
Photo requirements:
  • color photo (original photo that should not be cut from any other photo, printed on a computer, etc.);
  • size 35x45 mm;
  • You must be shown in the photo in full face, without a headdress, on a light background;
  • The face should make up 70-80% of the photo.
  1. Health insurance policy with an insurance liability of at least 30 000 EUR, valid in the Schengen area and valid for either the first visit on the requested visa, or for the entire duration of the visa.
  2. Documents confirming the purpose of the trip:
Applying for a visa for business purposes, for the purpose of attending cultural or sporting events:
  • Written confirmation from the organization/firm about the planned event;
  • copies of documents confirming the existence of business relations between partners;
  • copy of invitation/tickets for conference, seminar, etc.;
  • A letter of guarantee written by the employer in free form on the company's official letterhead. The letter of guarantee must indicate the purpose of the trip and the details of the host.
When filling out a visa application (questionnaire), you must indicate the contact person of the host and the method of contact with him (address of residence, telephone number or e-mail address).

Applying for a tourist visa:
  • a document confirming the availability of a place of residence (confirmation of a hotel reservation). Hotel reservations made through e-booking sites will not be accepted.
  • When filling out a visa application (questionnaire), it is necessary to indicate the contact details of the inviting party (address of residence, telephone number, e-mail address);
  • copies of travel tickets or copies of driver's license and technical passport of the car in which you plan to travel;
  • a document confirming the availability of funds (a salary certificate or a bank statement).
Applying for a visa to visit relatives, friends:
  • A written confirmation signed personally by the originator and containing the personal data of the invited person (name and surname, date of birth).
  • a copy of the identity document of the inviting person: for Estonian citizens - a copy of the passport or ID-card, for citizens of other countries residing in Estonia - a copy of the ID-card.
  • When filling out a visa application (questionnaire), it is necessary to indicate the contact details of the inviting party (address of residence, telephone number, e-mail address);
  • document confirming the availability of funds of the visa applicant (certificate of salary or bank statement);
  • documents confirming family ties with the visitor (copies of civil status documents (copy of birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.)
Applying for a visa to visit a property:
  • copy of extract from the land register;
  • document confirming the availability of funds of the visa applicant (certificate of salary or bank statement).
If the owner wants to invite a friend:
  • copy of the owner's visa;
  • a statement from the owner in free form;
If the owner wishes to invite a relative:
  • copy of the owner's visa;
  • a statement from the owner in free form;
  • copies of documents confirming family ties (copies of civil status documents (copy of birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.).
Application for a visa for the purpose of visiting a burial site:
  • certificate from the Estonian Red Cross  (Eha 8, 10137 Tallinn);
  • copies of documents confirming family ties (copies of civil status documents (copy of birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.);
  • document confirming the availability of funds of the visa applicant (certificate of salary or bank statement).
If a minor child (under 18) is traveling without parents, a copy of the notarized consent of the parents or one of the parents must be presented for the child to travel to the Schengen Area.
